Prickly Heat
Maquettes
Tubular vents and textural surfaces simultaneously reference the biomimicry seen in modern architecture, as temperatures on our planet are threatened to rise.
The use of cacti-like ‘spikes’ used on buildings to create a larger, faster cooling surface area, as well as providing additional shade is a perfect example of how this technique is used.
In response to the brief ‘Senses’; This collection was created with the intention of embodying the obscurity of nature and its deep connection with our climate; This collection was inspired by the organic architecture of natural-phenomena such as corals, cacti and termite mounds; all of which have adapted and evolved unique ways to protect themselves from the suns rays.
The Prickly Heat collection was displayed as part of the end of year HNC and HND Ceramics Exhibition at The Morley Gallery.
